U.S. prepaid smartphone sales increased to one-third of the smartphone market in Q1 2013
Prepaid smartphone market is booming. According to the latest market research released on May 15th by the NPD Group, a global information company, prepaid smartphone sales reached 32 percent of all smartphone sales in first quarter of 2013. Comparing these to 21 percent in the first quarter of 2012, this is 11 percent increase. If we know that year-over-year total smartphone sales have increased 42 percent, this increase is quite significant. Read more
Verizon prepaid smartphone plans now with more data
Verizon Wireless has announced that its prepaid $60 and $70 smartphone plans now include more data. For existing customers, increased data allotment on Verizon prepaid plans is available immediately while for new customers, it will be effective as of June 6. Read more

Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy Rush to get Jelly Bean update starting today
After releasing an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Boost Mobile’s LG Venice couple of days ago, carrier has added another handset to the Jelly Bean list, Samsung Galaxy Rush. T-Mobile to increase MetroPCS footprint
After a big merger is finally complete, T-Mobile US has quite big plans for its MetroPCS brand. Former CFO of MetroPCS and now T-Mobile US CFO Braxton Carter, speaking at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference said that MetroPCS will be “expanding to 15 additional major metropolitan areas very quickly”. Read more

Walmart Internet on the Go plans now with less megabytes in some plans
Prepaid mobile broadband service, Internet on the Go, offered only at Walmart, has introduced some plan changes to its customers. The Sprint’s MVNO has been notifying its customers with an email letting them know that one of its current plans will be discontinued as of May 15 as well as some plans will include less megabytes than they are including right now.
