Aio includes international texting on $50 and $60 plans
AT&T’s prepaid brand Aio Wireless has added unlimited international texting on the $50 Smart and the $60 Pro plan for free. Unlimited international texting is available to 35 countries including Mexico, Canada, India, Spain and the United Kingdom. This newly added feature doesn’t include picture or video messaging, only SMS.
So far, only Aio Passport add-on for $15 per month was available. Aio Passport includes unlimited calling to landlines, unlimited messaging and 100 minutes for calling mobiles. It can be added to any Aio plan except to $25 unlimited talk and text only plan.
The $50 Smart plan now includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 2.5 GB at high speeds in addition to unlimited international texting to 35 countries. The $60 Pro plan has all that $50 plan includes just with more high-speed data per month, 5GB.
Aio Wireless will soon be rebranded into New Cricket brand. AT&T has purchased Leap Wireless, Cricket’s parent company, in March 2014 with an intention to combine these two brands and provide new entity that will be aggressive competitor to prepaid brands as Boost Mobile and MetroPCS. Boost Mobile, Sprint’s prepaid brand CDMA-based, has added new plans few days ago that match Aio’s plans. On the other hand, MetroPCS is owned by T-Mobile for some time now, so it uses GSM network, offers GSM based handsets and almost identical monthly plans except that MetroPCS’s $60 plan includes unlimited, unthrottled data. However, regarding international texting, Aio is the only one to include it for free while Boost and MetroPCS charges customers additionally for it.
