Aio Wireless announces Moto G, Nokia Lumia 520 and ZTE Sonata 4G
AT&T’s prepaid brand Aio Wireless has announced today three new smartphones for its prepaid phone lineup. The first is currently one of the most desirable budget-friendly smartphones on the market, Motorola’s Moto G, which Aio will be selling for $149.99 starting February 14. The carrier also announced the Nokia Lumia 520, Windows Phone 8 smartphone, which also will be available on Valentine’s Day, February 14, for $99.99. Starting today, Aio Wireless customers can purchase the ZTE Sonata 4G, Android 4.1.2 JellyBean smartphone, for $$79.99.
The Moto G comes with a 4.5-inch (1280 x 720p) HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and GPS. A 2,070mAh battery that provides up to 18 hours of talk time powers the phone. In addition, Aio Wireless Moto G will come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled.
The Moto G on Aio Wireless is a GSM version of the phone unlike Verizon’s, Boost Mobile’s and U.S. Cellular’s versions that are CDMA-based. Verizon and U.S. Cellular are selling their Moto G for $99 while Boost made it available for $129.99. However, Motorola is selling GSM Moto G for $179 so Aio’s price for it is in fact a good price.
The Nokia Lumia 520, Windows Phone 8 phone, features 4G HSPA+ connectivity, 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 8GB internal storage, mMicroSD card slot for memory expansion up to 64GB, Bluetooth 3.0 and 5-megapixel camera with video capture. The Lumia 520 is already available for AT&T’s prepaid brand GoPhone, also for $99.99.
The ZTE Sonata 4G comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch WVGA (800×480) display and 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture. It also has a 4 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot for up to 32 GB of additional memory, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi and a 1785 mAh battery. The Sonata was announced at the CES 2014 and is available now for $$79.99.
All three new smartphones are compatible with Aio Wireless’s new $40, $50 and $60 monthly service plans. The $40 plan offers unlimited voice minutes, unlimited messages and 500 MB of high-speed data. The $50 plan has unlimited voice minutes, unlimited messages and 2.5 GB of high-speed data while the $60 plan includes unlimited voice minutes, unlimited messages and 5 GB of high-speed data. Customers who sign up to these new plans can choose auto pay option and save $5 each month.
Aio Wireless throttles data to 256 Kbps when high-speed data allotment is reached. They are offering LTE and HSPA+ speeds limited to 8 Mbps and 4 Mbps, respectively. Additional data are also available, 1GB of high-speed data for $10 per month.
