Boost Mobile Includes Family Plans, $5 Auto Pay Discount, Mobile Hotspot, Roaming, Boost Premier and Boost Dealz starting Jan 26
Sprint’s prepaid brand Boost Mobile will add more than a few features to its prepaid offerings starting January 26, 2016. Details of these improvements have been leaking for past couple of days and what we can see from them is that Boost will definitely attract more customers when they go live than by just offering good switcher promotions. According to leaks, to its offerings Boost Mobile includes family plans, a $5 auto pay discount, mobile hotspot in all monthly plans, voice roaming (50 minutes, limited to select handsets), new $5 Todo Plus Mexico add-on and Buy One Get One Free promo for family plans, Boost Dealz and Boost Premier features.
Boost’s family plans
On January 26, 2016, Boost will start offering family plan options (excludes Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands). Family plans will be available at stores and independent dealers. They include:

The offer is available at independent dealers only and includes following phones for free: the Alcatel OneTouch Elevate, Motorola Moto E, LG Tribute, LG Tribute 2 and ZTE Speed. Boost allows one free phone per family plan.
Boost Mobile’s $5 Mexico Roaming Add-On
Also to family plans, Boost Mobile customers can add a new promotional $5 Mexico Roaming Add-On. Starting on or about January 26, 2016, customers will be able to use their plans with unlimited talk, text and data in the U.S. and Mexico. Customers will be able to make unlimited calls (mobiles and landlines) and send unlimited texts in between U.S. and Mexico. The new $5 add-on will also allow data usage but on the $60 unlimited plan, data allotment will be limited to 8GB while in Mexico, on the $45/5GB plan 2.5GB data and on the $35/2GB plan 1.5GB of data. Customers will be able to make unlimited calls to mobile and landline numbers in Canada (Northern Territory excluded) too and to send unlimited international texts.
The new $5 Mexico Roaming Add-On is good through April 5, 2016 but those who enroll will be able to keep it as long as they don’t change the plan. Also, while in Mexico, data speeds will be 2G/3G only and data roaming will work on Androids and iPhones which are GSM enabled.
Boost Mobile’s $5 Auto Pay Discount
Also from January 26, all Boost Mobile monthly plans ($35 or $30 with auto pay and $45 growing data plans and $60 unlimited plan) will be $5 cheaper each month if customers enroll in auto Pay. By adding this feature, Sprint’s Boost competes with AT&T’s Cricket Wireless, GoPhone, H2o Wireless or Straight Talk’s $2.5 auto discount (if at all possible due to coverage).
Free mobile hotspot
To be competitive with carriers as T-Mobile Prepaid, MetroPCS, Verizon prepaid and GoPhone on select plans, Boost adds free mobile hotspot feature to all monthly plans, too. Hotspot data on the $60 unlimited plan are limited to 8GB of data.
Domestic voice roaming has already been included into Boost’s $35, $45 and $60 plans from January 17, 2016. Customers can spend 50 minutes for off-network voice only. However, this feature works with select phones only, which are purchased at Walmart. Eligible phones are the Alcatel OneTouch Elevate, HTC Desire 626s, Huawei Union, LG G Stylo, LG Volt 2, Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE and ZTE Prestige.
Starting January 26, Boost Mobile will also launch Boost Premier, a new feature that will allow customers who miss to pay for their service to receive free incoming calls and texts for up to 60 days. This feature will not be available if the service is cancelled. Also available will be additional 14 days to pay for the service for customers who meet certain eligibility requirements (Illinois and Florida excluded). The 14 days “Grace Period” is a limited time offer, available in Boost Mobile stores.
And the last thing, maybe just for now, is the Boost Dealz offer. Customers get a $5 monthly credit for download and installation of Boost Dealz application that must be active for at least 30 days in order to get the credit.
