Boost Mobile Shrinkage Plan no longer offered, Daily Mobile Hotspot available instead of Monthly
Last month, Sprint’s prepaid brand Boost Mobile has started offering new set of plans, Monthly Unlimited Select. For a while, old monthly plans together with Shrinkage plan that offered $5 discount on monthly bill after every six on-time payments until monthly rate reaches $45 were also available, until now. Since July 1, Boost Mobile Shrinkage Plan and Monthly Mobile Hotspot feature are no longer offered.
What ones was a reason for Boost Mobile customers to stay longer with this carrier, doesn’t exist anymore. Previously, customers could start with $55 per month service for Android phones with unlimited talk, messaging and data with first 2.5GB at high speeds and end up paying for the same service $40 per month after 18 on-time payments. Now, they can choose from regular monthly plans that in fact match the plans from AT&T’s Cricket Wireless and T-Mobile’s MetroPCS. Existing customers who are already on Shrinkage plan can of course keep their shrunk plans as long as their account remains active or they don’t switch to another plan.
New Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited Select plans include three options.
- The $40 plan includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 500 MB at 3G/4G speeds.
- The $50 plan includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 2.5 GB at 3G/4G speeds.
- The $60 plan includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 5 GB at 3G/4G speeds.
Instead of Monthly Mobile Hotspot feature that was available for $10 per month, Boost Mobile customers can now pick Daily Mobile Hotspot that’s good for a day, includes 250MB of hotspot data per day and costs $5. Boost’s Daily Hotspot add-on works with select hotspot-capable handsets. Customers who are already using this service can keep using it as long as they don’t discontinue it for some reason. Virgin Mobile, Boost’s sister company, has also recently added Daily Mobile Hotspot add-on to its prepaid offering.
