U.S. prepaid smartphone sales increased to one-third of the smartphone market in Q1 2013
Prepaid smartphone market is booming. According to the latest market research released on May 15th by the NPD Group, a global information company, prepaid smartphone sales reached 32 percent of all smartphone sales in first quarter of 2013. Comparing these to 21 percent in the first quarter of 2012, this is 11 percent increase. If we know that year-over-year total smartphone sales have increased 42 percent, this increase is quite significant. Read more

RadioShack might launch MVNO RadioShack Mobile based on Cricket Wireless
According to leaked images received by Engadget, RadioShack might launch MVNO called RadioShack Mobile. On one leaked image, version of HTC One V, an Ice Cream Sandwich phone, is listed for release by new MVNO while on the other, there are further details on the phone, their affordable prepaid plans and the number customers can call to activate the service. Search Google by handwriting on Android and iOS
Google today introduced a new way of web search on the touch-based devices. Instead of typing words using standard keyboards, users can simply search Google by handwriting, by drawing letters down on their touch screens. This new tool applies only to Android and iOS 5 touch-based device. Read more

Leap Wireless moves to LTE technology, adds new customers, MetroPCS did well but worse than last year
Cricket’s parent company, Leap Wireless moves to LTE technology first by launching an LTE trial market in Tucson, Arizona. But that’s just the beginning of their ambitious plan. According to Leap CEO Doug Hutcheson, by the end of 2012, they will have a total of 25 million people covered with LTE network and in the next couple of years or so, two thirds of their existing network will be covered with fast LTE technology. And, of course, that wouldn’t mean much without LTE enabled smartphones, that the carrier plans to add to its lineup in mid-to-late 2012. Read more

There is no iPhone 4 on Page Plus nor it will be for the time being
Just few days ago, we were letting you know that Page Plus was allowed to activate Verizon’s iPhone 4 but that information showed as misleading. In fact, it was valid at that time but probably due to Verizon and Page Plus’s misunderstanding, the latest statement that Kitty Wireless, the source of the original article on this subject, was given by Page Plus is:
“The iPhone is not allowed at this time. Should an iPhone be activated on the network, it could be subject to deactivation at any point in time in the future if the “powers that be” determine to do that.” Read more
