PTel to discontinue CDMA service soon, customers should switch to GSM during May
When a Sprint’s MVNO PlatinumTel became a T-Mobile’s MVNO PTel in December last year, the company has announced that the CDMA service will be discontinued in the middle of 2013. According to a PTel’s representative who was answering users’ questions on the carrier’s Facebook page, CDMA customers need to switch to GSM service and compatible handset during this month because right after it, CDMA service will be discontinued. A T-Mobile’s MVNO PTel is offering several new promo codes for new and existing customers to save money. Since founded in 2001, PlatinumTel was Sprint’s MVNO. However, in December 2012, carrier has launched a completely new GSM-based service called PTel. To make it easier for existing customers to switch as well as to attract new ones, PTel promo codes have been offered regularly. PTel to launch new MVNO Giv Mobile next month
A Sprint’s MVNO PlatinumTel last month has launched completely new GSM service, PTel, on T-Mobile’s network with plans to end Sprint’s CDMA service completely in mid-2013. According to PTel executive Omar Abhari, that is not where the company’s plans end. Next month, PTel plans to launch a new MVNO Giv Mobile that will be charity orientated. Later on, by the time third quarter ends or during the fourth quarter, company plans to introduce ad-subsidized wireless service. Read more

Last month PlatinumTel has revealed that they would offer Bring Your Own Device program on T-Mobile’s network and not on Sprint’s CDMA, as everyone assumed. They have also said that it will be launched on a completely new GSM service called Ptel. Well, only a month after that, Ptel GSM service is live and available for purchase at platinumtel.com and at their authorized dealers. Read more
PTEL to launch its new GSM service around December 15
Few weeks ago, Sprint’s MVNO PlatinumTel has announced launching completely new GSM service on T-Mobile’s network called PTEL. They also said that they are planning to discontinue its CDMA service sometime next year but haven’t mentioned when that might be. Well, on PlatinumTel’s Facebook page, some FAQs have been answered so now, details on the PTEL’s launch date, time of ending CDMA service and what GSM plans PTEL will offer to its customers are available. Since PlatinumTel runs off of Sprint’s network, we assumed that offering BYOD option to its customers will be related to activating Sprint phones. However, last week we have learned that that won’t be the case since the company plans to offer it on GSM service using T-Mobile’s network. They have announced launching completely new GSM service under the name PTEL. We again assumed that CDMA service would remain available to those who are already using their service but apparently, we can expect PlatinumTel to end CDMA service sometime in 2013 and switch over to GSM completely. PlatinumTel BYOP service to be on T-Mobile network
Last week, Sprint’s MVNO PlatinumTel has announced adding Bring Your Own Device program to its offer in December 2012. Probably, most of us jumped to conclusion that it will be on Sprint’s network even though Sprint phones with clean ESN are allowed on PlatinumTel through its master dealer ACRS Wireless since February this year. However, yesterday, ACRS posted on their forum that PlatinumTel BYOP service would be on T-Mobile’s network, not on Sprint’s, offered as a completely new GSM service, under the name PTEL. Read more
PlatinumTel bringing BYOD and $40 Unlimited Plan in December
PlatinumTel is the next in the row of Sprint’s MVNOs to add BYOD program to its offer. Only few days ago, Boost has been revealed to soon start activating Sprint handsets on its service, joining that way those who are already offering it – Ting, Kajeet, PrepaYd Wireless, Eco Mobile and others. Besides PlatinumTel bringing BYOD option to its customers, they can also expect a new $40 Unlimited Everything monthly plan that comes with unlimited talk, text, MMS, web, international texting and 411. Both, BYOD program and $40 Unlimited plan will be available next month, December 2012, according to a banner on their website. Read more
