U.S. prepaid smartphone sales increased to one-third of the smartphone market in Q1 2013
Prepaid smartphone market is booming. According to the latest market research released on May 15th by the NPD Group, a global information company, prepaid smartphone sales reached 32 percent of all smartphone sales in first quarter of 2013. Comparing these to 21 percent in the first quarter of 2012, this is 11 percent increase. If we know that year-over-year total smartphone sales have increased 42 percent, this increase is quite significant. Read more
New Walmart Internet on the Go plans
Walmart’s mobile broadband service, Internet on the Go, has introduced new plans and improved existing ones by adding more megabytes. Customers can now choose from two types of Internet on the Go plans, the “Go Big – Use Whenever” plans that now come with more megabytes and “Go Bigger – 30-Day” plan, the new options. Read more
The latest prepaid smartphones 2011
It is pointless to start the articles with how prepaid industry is not the same any more. We are well aware of what is going on and how things are progressing; pretty soon, the prepaid carriers will be offering iPhone4 (more likely by prepaid providers like Boost, Virgin Mobile and Straight Talk since they all offer unlimited service) or even prepaid tablets. Cricket, for example, planned to offer its customers a tablet this year, but due to the bad timing, recently gave up the idea. That just means that it will happen some time soon. If one carrier does it, it is going to cause chain reaction. But, for now, we are more than pleased with the latest prepaid smartphones offer since some good devices are released or announced to be available soon. Read more
