Boost Mobile Hydro Edge launching this summer
Kyocera has announced today adding Hydro Edge to Sprint and Boost Mobile’s Android lineups and Hydro XTRM to U.S. Cellular’s. Both handsets are successors of the original, waterproof Kyocera Hydro. Boost Mobile Hydro Edge has an IP 57 certificate, which means that the phone is protected from dust, sprayed water, or being under water 3.28 feet (1 meter) for up to half an hour. Read more

Sprint MVNOs can now access more phones through Custom Branded Device Program
Few weeks ago, Sprint has officially allowed all of its MVNOs to activate most of Sprint-branded handsets through its BYOSD program. Today, they have announced launching a new program called the Custom Branded Device that will do MVNOs even more good. The program provides Sprint MVNOs with “greater, and potentially quicker, access to a large selection” of Android smartphones that are completely unbranded from any reference to Sprint and Boost Mobile and their usual on-board services and apps. New Sprint BYOSD program allows MVNOs to activate their old phones
Many Sprint MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) as Ting, PrepaYd and Kajeet are already offering BYOD option allowing older Sprint phones to be activated on their service. However, those that haven’t been offering it so far can do it now since the new Sprint BYOSD (Bring Your Own Sprint Device) program has been announced that now allows activating most of Sprint-branded handsets on all Sprint MVNOs. Sprint prepaid LTE phones revealed, expected in Q1 2013
In late October, Sprint has revealed that access to its LTE network will become available to its prepaid brands, Boost and Virgin Mobile, relatively soon but the only thing we saw since then on this matter was last week’s leaked Boost Mobile poster. Although not yet official, still, in many occasions very reliable source, @evleaks, has reveled first Sprint prepaid LTE phones, this time. According to them, Boost Mobile will be adding ZTE Aurora and HTC Kingdom 2 while Virgin Mobile’s first LTE handset will be Samsung Galaxy Victory. Sprint announces new contract-free LTE tablet plans
The third largest wireless carrier in the US, Sprint, has announced new contract-free LTE tablet plans with rates that aren’t any cheaper than Verizon’s or AT&T’s but come with a 20 percent more data, according to them. Sprint’s new LTE tablet plans will be available as of November 11th, 2012 and more importantly, they do not require contract signing. Read more
Updated: Softbank making a bid on MetroPCS along with acquiring Sprint?
Update: Softbank and Sprint made official announcement today on reaching an agreement in which Softbank will acquire 70% of Sprint for $20.1 billion. Softbank will control its interest in Sprint through a shell company set up in the U.S called New Sprint. Sprint will become a subsidiary of New Sprint. With Softbank’s money invested in Sprint, Sprint will be able to improve its service overall, to build out its LTE network and to perhaps acquire smaller operators like MetroPCS. This deal has yet to be approved by regulators but it is expected to close by the middle of next year, 2013. Read more
