Verizon Wireless has the largest and most reliable network of all major carriers in the U.S. Verizon uses CDMA technology, which means that a phone swapping is not as easy as with GSM-based phones if customers are not happy with service or the phone itself. Verizon’s service is primarily focused on postpaid customers but in recent months they made quite a few changes to its prepaid offerings which made them more appealing to existing and potential customers. Biggest change is that Verizon has allowed access to LTE to its prepaid customers on July 17, 2014.

The Galaxy Core Prime is also launching for Verizon’s postpaid service today for $29.99 with a new two-year contract or for Verizon Edge customers for $8 a month so speculated prepaid cost for this mid-range smartphone would be around $200. TracFone to pay $40M for throttling or cutting off unlimited dataThe Federal Trade Commission has fined the TracFone, U.S. subsidiary of America Movil, for throttling or completely cutting off data to customers who have signed up for unlimited data. False advertizing of unlimited data from 2009 through 2014 will cost them $40 million. Customers who have been misled by TracFone subsidiaries as Straight Talk, NET10, Simple Mobile and Telcel America in any way, whose ‘unlimited data’ were throttled between 1 and 3 gigabytes without any explanation, whose data were cut off entirely after reaching 4 or 5 gigabytes or for even losing their service completely (talk, text, and data) in some cases, are eligible to getting their money back. New Straight Talk $35 unlimited plan spotted at WalmartStraight Talk will be introducing a new unlimited plan for $35 per month, according to image taken at Walmart by a Prepaid Phone News reader. The image shows the new Straight Talk $35 unlimited plan with unlimited talk, text and data with first 500 MB at high speeds. The rest of the data is presumable throttled to 2G or 64 Kbps as data with all other Straight Talk plans are. Read more

Straight Talk ZTE Rapido LTE, first Verizon-compatible LTE smartphone, found at Walmart store Straight Talk has started offering its first Verizon-compatible LTE smartphone, the ZTE Rapido LTE. A Howard Forums user has spotted the phone in Walmart store. The Rapido LTE (Z932C) hasn’t been listed on the carrier’s website yet but obviously will be soon. Straight Talk ZTE Rapido LTE costs $179.88, according to the image from Walmart store and to the Walmart’s website, where the phone is listed but out of stock.

Update: The ZTE Rapido LTE has been added to Straight Talk’s website. It’s sold for $179.99. At Walmart.com, the phone is in stock. It’s listed as Straight Talk ZTE 932C and it’s available for $179.88.
