Straight Talk and Net10 BYOP CDMA Activation Kit available at Walmart
The possibility of activating most of Verizon phones on Straight Talk and Net10’s service is up again regardless of BYOP CDMA program being cancelled only one week after it launched in April. All three TracFone brands, including Telcel America, have launched BYOP CDMA program and cancelled it within a week. Now both Straight Talk and Net10 are allowing it again but with some new restrictions applying. Read more

Huawei has announced that its first Windows Phone 8 phone, W1, can be expected in Walmart’s online and retail stores this month. The U.S. carrier that will offer the Huawei W1 will be TracFone. The phone is also known as the Ascend W1. Read more

Straight Talk limits Unlimited International Plan, so as Net10
Straight Talk has announced that its $60 Unlimited International Plan is no longer unlimited. The company explained on their blog that they are limiting its $60 International Plan in order “To improve the quality and reliability of our service to international destinations for our customers and to reduce network congestion.” The change went into effect on May 1, 2013. As of yesterday, Straight Talk, NET10 and Telcel America CDMA BYOP options are no longer available. The CDMA BYOP sites from all three TracFone’s brands are discontinued without any explanation and now redirecting to their own SIM websites. Read more

Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S III will be coming soon to Walmart retail stores, according to the leaked image posted by a Howard Forum user. The image shows that the last year’s flagship Samsung phone will be offered for $439.88. It is also identified that it’s CDMA-based. That means that Straight Talk’s version will be using either Sprint or Verizon network. However, information on when the phone actually might become available is unknown for now. Read more

Straight Talk denies cutting data off at 1.5GB
The rumors of Straight Talk cutting data off at 1.5GB have been clarified at the company’s blog yesterday. They have explained that they “are NOT cutting off data at 1.5GB on Straight Talk” and that the specified data limit applies only to NET10’s BYOD program for AT&T SIM cards only. Read more
