Consumer Cellular Adds ZTE Avid 828 And Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) To Its Prepaid Lineup
Wireless service provider for AARP members Consumer Cellular has improved its prepaid phone lineup. Today, the carrier added the ZTE Avid 828, a low cost Android 5.0 smartphone while a week ago, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) has arrived with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. Consumer Cellular adds ZTE Avid 828 for $70 while this year’s version of Galaxy J3 is priced at $125. Update: the carrier has also added the Alcatel Pop 3, a 5.5-inched Lollipop smartphone for $100.

Besides Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, the ZTE Avid 828 features a large 5-inch LCD (854 x 480) display, 1.1GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards up to 32GB (16 GB microSD card included). The phone has a 5-megapixel rear camera with 4x digital zoom, 1080p HD video capture and front-facing camera for video chats. It has a Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and 4G LTE connectivity. The Avid 828 also features voice recognition, MP3 player and battery that allows up to 6 hours of talk time and up to 10.8 days of standby time.
Consumer Cellular Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Specs
In addition to Android 6.0 Marshmallow platform, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) has a 5-inch LCD (1280 x 720) display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards up to 128GB. The phone comes with 5-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and 1080p HD video capture and front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy J3 uses Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS and 4G LTE for connectivity, has voice recognition, MP3 player and battery life that provides up to 22 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby time.
Customers can simplify J3’s interface with Easy Mode by turning it to the one that’s easier to handle, with larger icons and fewer options. Also, they can take advantage of Outdoor Mode – seeing display easier on sunlight, Easy Mute – silences incoming calls when the phone is placed facedown, or Smart Alert that makes the phone vibrate when picked up if there is a missed call or message.
Consumer Cellular Alcatel Pop 3 Specs
Consumer Cellular has also added the Alcatel Pop 3 to its prepaid smartphone lineup. The Pop 3 features a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720) HD screen, 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards up to 32GB (8GB microSD card included). It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and has a 5-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, voice recognition, MP3 player and FM radio. Its battery provides up to 30 hours of talk time and up to 26 days of standby time.
These smartphones can be paired with Consumer Cellular’s prepaid service plans that have been improved recently. Customers also won’t be charged for overages any longer. The carrier has added Automatic Upgrades that automatically upgrades users to a higher plan when they go over talk, text or data allotment. Phone activation is free but their plans do not include taxes and fees (between 15% and 35%) in their cost. Consumer Cellular operates on AT&T and T-Mobile networks and offers voice, text and 2G data roaming and US-based customer support.
