Consumer Cellular has recently introduced Automatic Upgrades that automatically upgrades customers to a higher priced plan when they go over their allotment. Also, customers can return to the wanted plan whenever they want without any charges.
Their customers have access to voice, text and 2G data roaming. The costs of their monthly plans do not include taxes and fees, which are somewhere between 15% and 35%, so customers will pay additionally.
Even so, Consumer Cellular seems to be doing well now that many MVNOs are struggling and shutting down. Their business is strong and growing, according to Fierce Wireless that talked to Consumer Cellular CEO and founder John Marick. Marick said that they are in business for 21 years thanks to targeting a niche, people who are 50 years old and older, and to really caring for users’ needs. The company is focusing on providing what users need; simple phones and smartphones that are easy to use, videos with simple and precise instructions on how to manage phones and service, and customer service (US-based) that won’t let customer leave if it’s in their power to help.
“We just want to make sure there’s no reason that a customer would want to leave our service.” Marick said.
