Cricket adds Samsung Galaxy S5 on June 27
AT&T’s Cricket Wireless yesterday announced adding yet another high-end smartphone to its prepaid GSM lineup. This time, Cricket adds Samsung Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 will be available starting tomorrow, June 27, at Cricket’s website and in stores for $539.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
The Galaxy S5 is a 4G LTE capable device resistant to dust and water (IP67 certified) with a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 128GB. It has a 16-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing one for picture taking as well as Bluetooth v4.0 LE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MIMO, NFC and mobile hotspot (connects up to 8 devices) for connectivity. The S5 also comes with S Health 3.0 and Heart Rate Sensor for health monitoring and features as Finger Scanner for additional security and Power Saving Mode for power efficiency.
The Galaxy S5 will work with Cricket’s $40, $50 and $60 prepaid service plans. All three plans are $5 cheaper per month if customers opt for Auto Pay option. The $40 monthly plan includes unlimited talk, text messaging and data with first 500MB at high speeds while the $50 and $60 plans include 2.5 GB and 5 GB at high speeds, respectively plus unlimited international texting to 35 countries per month.
