Cricket increases high speed data allotments to monthly plans for a limited time
Inspired by Boost Mobile’s and MetroPCS’s moves from last week, AT&T‘s Cricket increases high speed data allotments as well included in its monthly plans without changing the price. Cricket Wireless has announced today that for a limited time, its $40 plan will include 1 GB of data instead of previous 500 MB, the $50 plan will offer 3 GB of high speed data instead of 2.5 GB and the $60 plan will have 10 GB of high speed data instead of current 5 GB. All plans cost $5 less each month if customers sign in to Auto Pay so 1GB, 3GB and 10 GB of high speed data can be available for $35, $45 and $55 per month, respectively.
This promotion will be available for new and existing Cricket customers starting September 13. Existing customers will automatically receive high speed data increase on their next billing cycle. During the promotion, Cricket plans will look like this:
- $40 Basic Plan ($35 if using Auto Pay) – unlimited talk, text messaging and data with first 1 GB at high speeds (was 500 MB)
- $50 Smart Plan ($45 if using Auto Pay) – unlimited talk, text messaging and data with first 3 GB at high speeds (was 2.5 GB) and unlimited international texting to 35 countries
- $60 Pro Plan ($55 if using Auto Pay) – unlimited talk, text messaging and data with first 10 GB at high speeds (was 5 GB) and unlimited international texting to 35 countries
Customers who take advantage of this Cricket promotion will be able to keep increased high speed data after promotion ends. When high speed data allotment is reached in a month, data are throttled to 128 Kbps.
Cricket is quite competitive as this is not the only promotion they are running currently. The carrier is also offering a $100 credit to T-Mobile and Metro PCS customers when they switch to Cricket. The offer is available at Cricket stores until October 19, 2014. Also, Cricket is running five lines for $100 promotion with $40 plan that has 500 MB of high speed data. However, the $40 discount on the fifth eligible line expires on March 1, 2016.
MetroPCS is offering one line less, four lines for $100 but after they have increased high speed data allotments to their monthly plans last week, their $40 plan now includes 1 GB of high speed data.
Boost Mobile’s promotion is not only offering double high speed data, 1 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB per month instead of 500 MB, 2.5 GB and 5 GB, but also is lowering the price of monthly plans for $5 per month, from $40, $50 and $60 to $35, $45 and $55.
