First TracFone Android Samsung Galaxy Centura It didn’t take long before the first TracFone Android smartphone has become available. Just few days ago, data cards compatible only with Android phones have been discovered on TracFone. HSN has started selling the Samsung Galaxy Centura, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone, for $169.95 with a $25 Google Play gift card, DC car charger and a protective shield. However, currently, interesting customers can get this first TracFone Android smartphone for $149.95.

Besides using Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, the Samsung Galaxy Centura comes with a 3.5-inches (320 x 480-pixels) display, 800 MHz processor, 3-megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (2.6GB available for use), microSD card slot for expanding memory additionally up to 32GB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. The 1500 mAh battery powers the TracFone Centura and provides 7 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby time.

The TracFone Centura is available with triple minutes for life and includes promotional 600 minutes, 600 text, 600MB of data and 90 days of service. In order for this promotion to be valid, user must activate the phone and promotional offer before the end of this year, December 31, 2013. The airtime for TracFone Android Centura can be added buy purchasing regular airtime cards but those will add minutes, texts and data. The 60-minute card, for example, will add 180 minutes, 180 texts and 180MB of data while 120-minute card will add 360 minutes, 360 texts and 360MB of data. TracFone users will also be able to purchase data only cards with 2GB of data for $50, 750MB for $20 and 300MB for $10.

The Samsung Galaxy Centura is one of the four Android handsets discovered on Tracfone’s activate phones page by a Howard forums user. According to that page, three more Android handsets will be released: LG Optimus Dynamic (L38C) Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone, Huawei Glory (H868C) Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone and ZTE Valet (Z665C) Android 4.1 Jelly Bean phone. The Centura is available from TracFone’s brands Straight Talk and Net10 for some time now and currently can be purchased for $99.99 just for the phone, no accessories. The phone uses Verizon network.
