GoSmart includes high speed data with $35 plan, drops the price and high speed data allotment of $45 plan
T-Mobile’s prepaid brand GoSmart Mobile has made some changes to its prepaid service plans few days ago. The price of its $45 plan has been lowered to $40 per month but at the same time, its high speed data allotment is cut to 3GB per month instead of 5GB. Also, the $35 plan that previously offered unlimited 2G data now includes high speed data allotment, 500 MB per month.
High speed data in a GoSmart’s case is a 3G data. T-Mobile spokesperson told FierceWireles that “3G speeds on GoSmart Mobile are up to eight times faster than 2G. If a customer has a 4G-capable device, they can connect to our organic 4G network.”
After the latest changes, GoSmart Mobile offers:
- The $25 plan – includes unlimited talk, text and unlimited access to Facebook and Facebook Messenger
- The $35 plan – includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 500MB at high speeds and unlimited access to Facebook and Facebook Messenger
- The $40 plan – includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 3GB at high speeds and unlimited access to Facebook and Facebook Messenger
The old $45 plan that offered 5GB of high speed data is no longer listed on GoSmart website but, according to GoSmart dealer and a customer support, the plan is still available, Prepaid Phone News reports. Those who find the old $45 plan a good deal should act fast.
After high speed data allotment, GoSmart throttles data speeds to 2G, which is around 128 Kbps.
GoSmart is also running a promotion right now that gives customers a $100 credit when they port their number from specific carriers. Specific carriers are those that are not T-Mobile related (T-Mobile’s prepaid brand MetroPCS, T-Mobile itself or its MVNOs). The promotion is good through June 30. A $100 credit will be received in a form of $20 off of the monthly plans for five months. Also, online porting is not included in this promotion. Instead, customers who want to port their number from another carrier need to do it through GoSmart customer service (1-877-582-7788) or in store. At the time this promotion started, GoSmart Mobile required activation on a $35 or $45 unlimited talk, text and data plans. Now that the carrier has updated its plans lineup, it could be that the old $45 plan will stay available until this month and this promotion ends or maybe the new $40 plan qualifies.
Target’s Brightspot that uses T-Mobile network has also made changes to its prepaid service plans. The carrier has lowered the prices of most of its plans.
