Kajeet offers BYOD option, most Sprint phones allowed
Sprint’s MVNO Kajeet provides unique parental controls that make kids safe while on their smartphones. Up until now, in order to use Kajeet’s service, parents had to buy phones from the carrier but from now on, they will be able to bring in used ones. Kajeet offers BYOD option that allows activating most Sprints phones with their service.
Regarding restrictions, besides being a Sprint-branded, the phone has to be inactive currently on Sprint, must have good ESN and it cannot be a BlackBerry or iPhone. To be sure that their program supports certain Sprint phone model, users should contact a Customer Care agent.
To activate a used Sprint phone on Kajeet’s BYOD program, users need to call Kajeet’s Customer Care service (1-866-229-8506) and the whole process, which is free, would take a week at the most.
Another Sprint’s MVNO, Ting, is about to offer a Bring Your Own Device as well, allowing Sprint’s phones (also with certain restrictions) with its service but in a fourth quarter of this year. However, Kajeet is specialized in kids’ safety and cannot be compared to other providers if you ask parents.
