New MetroPCS features include: Data Maximizer on all plans; free unlimited music streaming on plans $40 and up; data increase on $40 and $50 plans from 2GB and 4GB to 3GB and 5GB, respectively and increased amount of hotspot data allotment to 8GB on $60 unlimited plan. Also, the $5 hotspot add-on is discontinued.
ORIGINAL: Looks like T-Mobile makes sure that all of its prepaid customers get access to all services available. After T-Mobile’s introduction of Binge On, free video streaming service that it plans to provide for its prepaid Simple Choice plans as well, the leaked images on Howard Forums reveal that compressed MetroPCS video streaming is coming too. The images also reveal that the carrier will include music streaming that doesn’t count towards user’s high speed data allotment and that high speed data on $40 and $50 unlimited plans will go up from 2GB and 4GB to 3GB and 5GB, respectively.
T-Mobile has introduced Binge On video streaming earlier this week for its postpaid and prepaid customers. Binge On provides video streaming that’s optimized to 480p quality and as such, it uses three times less data than for streaming videos at high quality. While prepaid Simple Choice $50/1GB plan will include Binge On but video streaming will be counted towards users’ high speed data allotments, the rest of the plans, 60/3GB, $70/5GB and $80/unlimited 4G LTE, will include video streaming that don’t count towards monthly high speed data, so it will be free.
According to leaked images, MetroPCS will include “Data Maximizer” that will probably work as the Simple Choice prepaid $50/1GB and lower plans. Data used for streaming videos will be counted towards users’ high speed data allotments but will last longer due to videos being compressed.
MetroPCS customers will be able to turn the new “Data Maximizer” feature off and on at any time, according to images. Data Maximizer will also be included on carrier’s $30 promo plan that offers unlimited talk, text and 1GB of high speed data but free unlimited music streaming will not be included.
To make the new feature even better, MetroPCS will add more high speed data to the $40 and $50 unlimited plans. The $40 plan that currently includes 2GB of high speed data will have 3GB and the $50 plan that comes with 4GB of high speed data will include 1GB more, 5GB. The $60 plan already offers unlimited 4G LTE data so no change there.
However, leaked images reveal that MetroPCS $60 unlimited plan will include 8GB of 4G LTE data for mobile hotspot use which currently is 6GB or 7GB for those who were paying $5 per month for hotspot (it added 1GB of hotspot data). Also, the leak shows that $5 hotspot add-on will no longer be available since $40 and $50 plans now include 1GB of extra data and all of it can be used for hotspot.
Other revealed MetroPCS add-ons are $5 Value Bundle that comes with call forwarding, international texting, Screen-It, Voicemail to Text and Unlimited Directory Assistance. None of these five add-ons will be available individually. Also, there is option of adding extra data, 1GB for $5 per month, Mexico Unlimited for landlines and mobiles for $5 and more.
MetroPCS customers can be very pleased on how their service with this carrier is progressing. They get a taste of everything that T-Mobile introduces for its postpaid and prepaid customers: hotspot for free, Mexico roaming and now free unlimited music streaming and watching compressed videos that save users data.
T-Mobile launches Binge On service tomorrow, on November 15 for new customers and November 19, 2015 for existing ones. We’ll see if that’s the date when improved MetroPCS plans will go live too.
