Locked AT&T iPhones can now be activated on Aio Wireless
Customers who wanted to activate AT&T iPhones on Aio Wireless, AT&T’s prepaid brand, had to unlock them first unlike all other AT&T handsets. However, according to HowardForums users and Aio’s customer service representatives that confirmed this information, AT&T have updated their system allowing now locked AT&T iPhones to be activated on Aio. All customers need to do is to insert the Aio SIM into locked AT&T iPhone and synchronize with iTunes.
AT&T acquired Leap Wireless, a parent company of Cricket Wireless, a week ago. Now that the deal is final, AT&T plans to combine its relatively new prepaid brand Aio Wireless with Cricket in the next few months under the new entity dubbed The New Cricket. According to AT&T, Aio customers will not experience any changes except change of the name.
They will continue to use service plans at the same price as well as access to LTE data limited to a maximum of 8 Mbps and HSPA+ data limited to 4 Mbps. The plan offerings include $25 talk and text only plan compatible with BYOD and feature phones and three smartphone plans. The $40 Basic plan offers unlimited talk, unlimited messages and 500 MB of high-speed data. The $50 Smart plan offers unlimited talk, unlimited messages and 2.5 GB of high-speed data and the $60 Pro plan has unlimited talk, unlimited messages and 5 GB of high-speed data allotment. After the high-speed data allotment, data are throttled to 128 Kbps on the $40 plan and 256 Kbps on the $50 and $60 plans. Additionally, customers who sign up for automatic payment will be paying $5 less for the three data plans; $35, $45 and $55 per month.
