MetroPCS Alcatel Fierce 4 launches for $69
Alcatel announced the Fierce 4, new large-screened affordable smartphone for T-Mobile’s prepaid brand MetroPCS. The Fierce 4 is available at MetroPCS website and its participating stores nationwide. T-Mobile customers, however, can expect it to launch this fall. MetroPCS Alcatel Fierce 4 can be purchased for $69.
MetroPCS Alcatel Fierce 4 Specs
The Fierce 4 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow on 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Out of 16 GB, users can use up to 10.8 GB but memory can be additionally expanded up to 128GB via microSD cards. The main camera which comes with autofocus is 8-megapixels. Front-facing one is 5-megapixels and features 84-degree wide angle lens. The phone also has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display protected with Dragontrail glass. The phone uses 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Calling, and mobile hotspot for connectivity while a 2,500mAh battery powers the phone. The battery provides up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 526 hours of standby time.
MetroPCS Prepaid Plans
MetroPCS Alcatel Fierce 4 works with the $30, $40, $50 and $60 monthly plans that include unlimited talk, text and 1GB, 3GB, 5GB and unlimited un-throttled high speed data, respectively. All plans come with Data Maximizer, video streaming compressed at DVD quality (480Kbps) that saves data up to three times. Also, data included in plans can be used for mobile hotspot but with $60 unlimited plan 8GB of high speed data is a limit. In addition, plans starting at $40 per month and higher offer free unlimited music streaming. Music streaming doesn’t count against plan’s high speed data.
The Alcatel Fierce 4 is not the only Fierce handset released for Metro PCS. The carrier’s been releasing Alcatel OneTouch Fierce handsets since November 2013. The one before Fierce 4, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL , only has worse front-facing camera – 2-megapixels, operating system – Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and microSD card slot capacity – 32GB.
