MetroPCS Alcatel Tru Launches For $29 After Rebates
Alcatel yesterday announced the Tru, a new low-cost smartphone for T-Mobile’s prepaid brand MetroPCS. Alcatel Tru is an entry-level Lollipop smartphone with faux leather back and a large 5-inch display. The Tru is available for $29 after rebates. Before rebates, MetroPCS Alcatel Tru costs $109.

In addition to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) display, the Alcatel Tru has a 1.1 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage (up to 3.5GB available to user). Memory can be expanded additionally via microSD cards up to 32GB. The Tru also has a 5-megapixel main camera with autofocus and LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera that features fixed-focus. For connectivity, the phone uses 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Calling and has mobile hotspot support. A 2,000mAh battery powers the Tru and provides up to 14 hours of talk time and up to 400 hours of standby time.
MetroPCS Prepaid Monthly Plans
MetroPCS Alcatel Tru works with the $30, $40, $50 and $60 unlimited plans. All plans include unlimited talk, text and data with 1GB, 3GB, 5GB and unlimited high speed data, respectively. All plans also include mobile hotspot and Data Maximizer, which offers video streaming at DVD quality (480P) that saves data up to three times. Plans starting at $40 and up include unlimited music streaming that doesn’t count against plan’s high speed data.
Those who prefer a really big screen at affordable cost can choose a new MetroPCS phablet, the ZMAX Pro. This ZTE-made smartphone with a 6-inch display, hexa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM can be purchased for $99. For this money, customers will also get a 13-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3400mAh battery and higher-end features as USB Type-C 2.0 port, VoLTE, HD Voice, a rear fingerprint sensor and Quick Charge.
