MetroPCS Announces Video Streaming At 480p, Free Unlimited Music Streaming And More Data On $40 And $50 Plans For November 19
It wasn’t long before we found out the exact date on which new MetroPCS features that leaked couple of days ago, including music and video streaming at 480p, will be added to its plans. MetroPCS announces video streaming at DVD quality, free Unlimited Music Streaming and 1GB of extra data on $40 and $50 plans on its website for this Thursday, November 19, 2015. The carriers also increases amount of data used for hotspot on the $60 unlimited plans to 8GB and discontinue $5 hotspot add-on.
MetroPCS video streaming at 480p that’s called Data Maximizer will be added to all plans including $30 plan with 1GB of high speed data. Optimized video streaming that’s perfect for mobiles has been announced by T-Mobile as Binge On feature last week for its postpaid and prepaid Simple Choice users and most of its plans include video streaming at DVD quality that doesn’t count toward plan’s high speed data. Only $50 Simple Choice plan includes this feature that uses plan’s data. That’s exactly how MetroPCS’s Data Maximizer works, it counts towards plans’ high speed data but it makes it last three times longer. The Data Maximizer can be turned off and on as desired.
MetroPCS adds new free unlimited music streaming to all plans except for $30 unlimited plan. Since it’s free, it means that music streaming doesn’t count toward plan’s high speed data. Customers will be able to stream music from more than 30 music services like Pandora, iHeartRadio, Apple Music, Spotify, and more.
Also, ever since T-Mobile announced that hotspot will be included with its postpaid and prepaid plans in June 2015, MetroPCS customers were given a choice to continue to pay $5 hotspot add-on and get additional 1GB of hotspot data, even though all their high speed data in the plans were available for hotspot usage (except unlimited $60 plan). Now, the $5 hotspot add-on is discontinued and included in the plans: the $40 plan now includes 3GB of high speed data, all good for hotspot usage, instead of 2GB; the $50 plan now has 5GB of high speed data instead of 4GB and $60 unlimited plan allows 8GB for hotspot usage, up from 6GB or 7GB for those who were paying $5 per month.
These new features and improvements that will be added to MetroPCS plans without any additional cost will put this prepaid provider at great advantage in this currently quite competitive wireless market.
