MetroPCS Metro Block-it app blocks unwanted calls and text messages
Not ones you have received a call or text message from telemarketers that not only waste your time, but your money as well. Fortunately, MetroPCS has decided to do something about it and hopefully, other providers will follow their steps. In order for users to be able to block unwanted calls and text messages, PrivacyStar offered MetroPCS Metro Block-it application. First month, this service is free and than $1 per month for those who want to continue using it.
MetroPCS is the first national carrier to offer PrivacyStar service to its customers. With Metro Block-it application, users will be able to block unwanted calls and text messages from any number they want. They will be able to block it right from their phone, unblock it if they decide so, or report to Do Not Call Registry and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations.
Right now, only MetroPCS Android smartphones can use this service but support for feature phones and BlackBerrys will soon be added. MetroPCS Metro Block-it application can be downloaded through the Metro App Store.
I decided to try Metro Block It, the first day it was ok, then it stopped loading. Additionally I found out that if you elect to block calls from unknown or anonymous persons it no longer gives you Anyone’s Name on your Texts. All you see is their number, this applies to people you have in your contacts. Soon as I disabled that feature the names reappeared on incoming texts. I can’t figure out why blocking Unknown or non listed numbers messes with text msg’s? ? Anyway it is no longer Eben working so I will uninstall, anyone else have this happened? BTW I did not even enable block text msg:s just calls.
I just dl’d metro block-it and had to start using it immediately. The problem I’ve found is that it actually answers the call, THEN blocks it. The person on the other end can hear you and your environment for about 1-2 seconds. I blocked someone just to see how it would work then had them call me. They said that when they called me it just sounds like I picked up then hung up. It also showed me they were calling me and that I answered and then the “this call has been blocked by metro block-it” banner showed up. And if you’re doing something on your phone while a blocked call comes through, you can inadvertentely answer it. For the most part, it DOES block the calls, but I see much room for improvement. Maybe once they work out the glitches it’ll be ok. I mean, it’s only a dollar a month.
Block it sounded cool, but the app needs some serious work. It doesn’t load half the time, numbers on the blocked list still occasionally ring through, and only full 10 digit numbers can be blocked. That’s lame. I get harassed by numbers where it’s some oddball junk like “019011″ in the caller ID, so of course Block It won’t let me block it. And since it isn’t anonymous either, it comes through. Annoying!I’m canceling it for now, but if they make some improvements I’ll be glad to try it again.
Does Block it work when the phone is off? or must the app run in order to block calls? I have my phone off when I am at work and want to stop a company from leaving voicemails for whomever had the number before I got it.

I love this app. I was getting daily calls for from bill collectors for the previous owner. I’ve had my number for about 2 years, but they don’t care. I was also getting unsolicited advertising calls. I mean, this was on a daily basis! I currently have 36 blocked numbers. It doesn’t bother me at all that it rings once. I don’t answer calls on the first ring anyway. But what a relief it is not to have to deal with those people anymore. The worst one is Portfolio Recovery. They have tried using 4 different phone numbers, but now they’re all blocked. I’ve been waiting for something like this for years!
Did u know that you can have someone forward the same yxt message to you over 1000.times to harrass you? Well, I just experienced this and block it worked wonderfully. Thank God. I w.as getting 30 texts a minute. I have not have any problem with my caller ID working. It works great. Thanks Metropcs!
I am trying it out now I do notlike the fact that the blocked call shows up on my phone or if I am doing something on phone it answers call. I think I am going back to my avast app that does this for free
