MetroPCS Microsoft Lumia 640 now available
T-Mobile and its prepaid brand MetroPCS have both announced the release of the Lumia 640 back in March at Mobile World Congress 2015. While T-Mobile has added it version almost a week ago, MetroPCS has added its yesterday, on June 22, 2015. MetroPCS Microsoft Lumia 640 is available for $129 but currently, the carrier is offering it for just $39 after instant $60 discount and $30 mail-in rebate.
The Microsoft Lumia 640 is a successor to the last-year’s Lumia 635. The Lumia 640 features Windows Phone 8.1 OS (will be upgraded to Windows 10) with virtual assistant Cortana. It has a 5-inch HD IPS (1280×720) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and improved readability at sunlight, a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, up to 128GB of external memory expansion via microSD card and 30GB free OneDrive cloud storage. The 640 has an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 1-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Calling and mobile hotspot. A 2500 mAh battery powers the Lumia 640 and provides up to 23.3 hours of talk time and up to 624 hours of standby time.
MetroPCS Microsoft Lumia 640 works with the
$30, $40, $50 and $60 plans. The $30 plan is promotional and offers unlimited talk, text and data with first 1GB at 4G speeds (no LTE). Update: $30 plan requires a MetroPCS 3G or 4G-capable GSM phone, not LTE-enabled. The rest of the plans include unlimited talk, text and data with first 2GB, 4GB and unlimited 4G LTE data. Since recently, all plans offer free mobile hotspot. The $40 and $50 plan users can use all of high speed data for mobile hotspot and even after it, hotspot is available at reduced speeds, around 128 Kbps. On the $60 plan, 6GB of high speed data can be used for mobile hotspot and when after it, hotspot is still available at throttled speeds.
T-Mobile is selling its version of the Microsoft Lumia 640 for $129.84.
