MetroPCS no longer offers MetroFlash service
It seems as MetroPCS no longer offers MetroFlash service. The carrier hasn’t confirmed this information yet and the web page for it still exists but according to Howard Forums member and Phonenews.com report, CDMA phones from other carriers cannot be flashed to MetroPCS network any more.
Almost four years ago, MetroPCS introduced MetroFlash service as a way of attracting more customers, considering their phone lineup wasn’t even close to the one they have today. They were allowing users to bring their own CDMA phones and make them compatible with MetroPCS network, all up until now.
Now, MetroPCS have respectable selection of handsets, mostly Android smartphones and they are planning to move to the LTE technology completely. Their plans have changed so is their strategy so it’s no wonder they don’t need MetroFlash flashing service any more. Even if this is not the case right now, eventually it will be since it’s inevitable. Moving to the LTE technology requests it.
According to the source, MetroPCS gave instruction to dealers to stop offering the Houdini flashing service right away.

The corporate stores are still required to do it as long as the phone you bring is compatible with their service and is on the approved device list. I just did my HTC 4g and Droid x , and I have the 4 phones for $100 plan. All the metro branded phones i seen on display at the corp. Store as of 5-1-2012 are very very weak in comparison even to my outdated HTC 4g pc36100. I am sure plenty of customers like myself are going to switch back to sprint if we are prevented from using the phone of my choice as that was a big factor to switch to metropcs to being with as me personally very rarely use internet on my phone unless I am in Wi-Fi range. I was on sprint unlimited plan for $50 per month and now I am saving a few Buck, although I am picky about what phone I use and being caught with a meteopcs branded phone is not even an option for me.
