MetroPCS, a prepaid brand of T-Mobile US, Inc., may soon add one of the largest smartphones to its prepaid lineup, Samsung Galaxy Mega, TmoNews reports. According to their source, MetroPCS Samsung Galaxy Mega can be expected sometime before the holiday season starts.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega comes with a massive 6.3-inch (1280×720) display, a fast 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot for additional memory expansion up to 64GB. The Samsung Galaxy Mega also includes an 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080 x 1920px video capture and 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting. In addition, it comes pre-installed with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and the phone is powered with a 3200mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega is a GSM-based smartphone, one of the many that MetroPCS has added recently to its prepaid lineup. Adding GSM phones to MetroPCS, which offered only CDMA and LTE service before merging with T-Mobile in May this year, is part of migrating CDMA customers to T-Mobile’s GSM network, which should be completed before 2015.
