NetZero mobile broadband now on Sprint’s 3G network
United Online’s NetZero Wireless has announced today that its mobile broadband service has expanded to Sprint’s 3G network. Previously, this provider was offering its broadband-only service on Sprint’s WiMAX network, present in only 80 markets. Now, NetZero mobile broadband is available nationwide, covering around 276 million citizens. In addition, this prepaid provider plans to add access to Sprint’s LTE network sometime in the third quarter of 2014.
The expansion to Sprint 3G nationwide coverage and eventually to LTE is a part of a five-year agreement signed with Sprint in July 2013. NetZero has also signed a three-year agreement on offering mobile broadband on Verizon Wireless’ 3G CDMA network but that deal is canceled. Despite it, NetZero continues to be open to other partners, according to NetZero CMO Dave Dowling.
NetZero Wireless offers four prepaid Sprint 3G broadband plans in addition to a free one for new customers, with 200 MB of data per month, available for 12 months only.
- The $9.95 plan includes 500 MB of 3G data per month
- The $19.95 plan includes 1 GB of 3G data per month
- The $34.95 plan includes 2 GB of 3G data per month
- The $49.95 plan includes 4 GB of 3G data per month
If customers use up all their data in a month, they can add more data. To a Free and $9.95 plan, customers can add 256 MB for $9.95, 512 MB for $19.95 and 1 GB of data for $29.95. To $19.95 plan and higher, customers can add 512 MB for $9.95, 1 GB for $19.95 and 2 GB of data for $29.95.
Sprint 3G broadband service will work with a NetZero Hotspot, available for $99.95. However, customers who sign up for the $19.95, $34.95 or $49.95 plan can get the device for half a price. The offer is good for a limited time. New customers will also be required to purchase a NetZero Hotspot in order to use free service plan for a year.
“Being able to offer NetZero Mobile Broadband to customers nationwide is the next step in the ongoing evolution of the NetZero brand,” said Francis Lobo, United Online President and Chief Executive Officer. “NetZero has been a leader in value-priced Internet access for over 13 years, and we take pride in offering our customers a quality service at a great price.”
