New Republic Wireless Phones, GSM Coverage, New Plans and Phone Financing Coming in July
Republic Wireless that operates on Sprint network and WiFi since launch in November 2011 has announced major improvements in their offerings. First, the carrier will expand the prepaid phone lineup with the seven new smartphones. New Republic Wireless phones will include lower priced options as well as the latest models as Samsung flagships. Second, they will provide a financing program that will make purchasing smartphones easier for customers. They will also expand cellular coverage with a GSM carrier as well as accompany these changes with new plan options. All these changes will start being available in July.
New Republic Wireless Phones
Republic Wireless will be adding seven new smartphones, which are coming from Samsung, Motorola, Huawei and LG. Currently, Republic’s phone selection is quite limited due to specific hybrid technology built-in that seamlessly switches between WiFi and cellular network. As carrier previously announced, that will change now. Initial selection of new Republic Wireless phones include:
- Moto X Pure Edition – $399
- Google Nexus 6P by Huawei – starting at $499
- Google Nexus 5X by LG – starting at $349
- Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) – $179
- Samsung Galaxy S6 – $599
- Samsung Galaxy S7 – $699
- Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge – $799
Republic will provide financing options for paying for these handsets over time, just like many other prepaid providers already do. Also, they will continue to test other, lower cost smartphones for compatibility with Republic Wireless and make them available in the coming weeks. Customers who already have one of the above listed handsets, new or used, will be able to bring it and activate it with carrier’s service.
Republic Wireless GSM Partner
All these new Republic Wireless phones are compatible with a newly announced GSM carrier that will be added to Republic service in July. Republic hasn’t named the new partner but being a GSM carrier with ‘the fastest nationwide 4G LTE network’ revels it’s T-Mobile. Project Fi also switches between WiFi , T-Mobile and Sprint cellular networks to provide the best possible signal at the time and location, just like Republic Wireless does since last month with announcing Bonding Calling.
Republic Wireless New Plans
To go along with bunch of new smartphones and expanded coverage with GSM service, Republic will offer new plans, too. For now, carrier just revealed that for $20 per month, customers will get unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data while other prepaid plan options will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.
By adding a new GSM carrier (T-Mobile) to already available Sprint network and WiFi, coverage of Republic Wireless will be just as Project Fi’s. However, ones that new plans arrive, Republic will offer cheaper service. For $20 per month customers will get unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data. Project Fi offers similar plan for $30; $20 per month for unlimited talk, text and international text and $10 per month for 1GB of high speed data. Customers can use their data in over 120 countries too but at reduced 256 Kbps speeds. However, Project Fi’s phone selection is limited to Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
