New T-Mobile Simply Prepaid Plans Get More High Speed Data, Data Maximizer And Free Music Streaming
Just as leak suggested a couple of weeks ago, T-Mobile has improved its Simply Prepaid plans on January 24, 2016. Previously, the $40, $50 and $60 plans have offered unlimited talk, text and data with 1GB, 3GB and 5GB of 4G LTE data. Now, new T-Mobile Simply Prepaid plans offer more high speed data, 3GB, 5GB and 10GB, respectively as well as $25 unlimited talk and text plan. Customers can also choose from a $30 Walmart’s talk, text and 4G data plan. In addition, Simply Prepaid plans now include Data Maximizer, optimized video streaming at DVD (480p) quality and Music Unlimited, free music streaming.
T-Mobile’s $25 plan includes only unlimited talk and text with no data. To this plan, customers can add Mexico Unlimited Landline add-on for $5 per month and get international texting worldwide and unlimited calling to Mexico landlines. The $30 plan comes with 100 voice minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data with first 5GB at up to 4G speeds. The $30 plan works only with devices purchased at Walmart or the ones activated on T-Mobile.com.
T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plans, prepaid and postpaid, for a few months now include Binge On that allows compressed video streaming on mobile devices. On some plans, Binge On doesn’t count against plan’s data while on others, it does, but saves data in both cases. Data Maximizer is the same feature as Binge ON, added to T-Mobile’s prepaid brand MetroPCS in November last year. However, on MetroPCS plans, as it now does on new T-Mobile Simply Prepaid plans, video streaming counts against plan’s high speed data but it uses three times less data while streaming videos. Data Maximizer can be switched off at any time.
Free music streaming on new T-Mobile Simply Prepaid plans is also available now. The new feature, music streaming that doesn’t count against plan’s high speed data, is called Music Unlimited (as MetroPCS’s version) rather than Music Freedom, brand that’s used with prepaid and postpaid Simple Choice plans. Free music streaming on T-Mobile’s new Simply Prepaid plans is available on plans $40 and higher.
After these changes, new T-Mobile Simply Prepaid plans look like this:
- $60 plan – includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 10GB at high speeds (was 5GB)
- $50 plan – includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 5GB at high speeds (was 3GB)
- $40 plan – includes unlimited talk, text and data with first 3GB at high speeds (was 1GB)
- $25 plan – includes only unlimited talk and text, no data
When high speed data allotments are used up in a month, T-Mobile throttles data speeds to 128Kbps until the next billing cycle.
In addition to these new appealing features that carrier doesn’t charge additionally, new T-Mobile Simply Prepaid plans include Wi-Fi Calling and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot. Coverage in Mexico and Canada that on prepaid Simple Choice plans is included in plans is available for Simply Prepaid plans for $5 extra per month on plans $40/month and up. MetroPCS offers it too for $5 per month.
