Page Plus Ohio call center to close January 16, throttled LTE speeds now reach 5 Mbps
Page Plus Cellular, TracFone owned since January 2014, will be closing its Ohio call center on January 16, 2015, according to Kitty Wireless Forums’ user. All employees will be laid off. Before the acquisition, Page Plus was known for having reliable customer support. After the purchase, TracFone did say that US-based customer support in Ohio will remain but it was expected that it will not be for a long.
That’s exactly what happened with Simple Mobile’s customer support after TracFone has acquired it; customers started being handled by “offshore” service centers and that’s also what’s characteristic for customer support of Straight Talk, Net10 and Safelink Wireless, other TracFone subsidiaries.
In another Page Plus Cellular news, throttled LTE speeds have improved. Users on Kitty Wireless Forums have been reporting faster LTE data speeds on Page Plus. Initially, LTE data was throttled to 3.5 Mbps but since a few days ago, customers are experiencing LTE speeds that reach 5Mbps download and around 2Mbps upload. Improved LTE speeds are available on plans activated starting October 28 or plans that renewed after that date.
