Project Fi Replaces Faulty Nexus 5X with the Moto X4 Android One
Google Project Fi‘s subscribers that have a problem with their faulty Nexus 5X are now offered the Moto X4 Android One as a replacement. Previously, the carrier was replacing the flawed devices with the ones out of inventory. Ones it’s ran out of the Nexus 5Xs, Project Fi has started giving users a $100 in Google Store Credit, or a $53 check.
Since Project Fi customers paid for the new Nexus 5X $350 and a $5 per month for the Device Protection Plan, this wasn’t the right compensation for their investment. That’s why, after one of the subscribers insisted on Project Fi doing the right thing this time, the carrier decided to offer him the Moto X4 Android One that costs $399.
So, Project Fi subscribers who still own a defected Nexus 5X and haven’t accepted one of the previously offered unfair replacement deals should call customer support and insist on a new Moto X4 Android One handset as a replacement. Hopefully, it’s majority of you.
Project Fi has been rated as one of the top three carriers for overall customer satisfaction by the Consumer Reports’ 2017 Cell-Phone Service Survey. That’s why it’s not surprise that carrier has come to its senses even after it took them a couple of weeks to realize that customers are not happy.
Update: Project Fi has stopped offering the Moto X4 Android One as a replacement to a faulty Nexus 5X. Those who are under the Device Protection program can get the refurbished Nexus 5X, or a full refunds.
Project Fi Bill Protection
Project Fi recently changed the way it’s billing its customers. Customers were paying $20 per month for unlimited talk and text plus $10 per GB of data. Now, users will pay for data as usual until Bill Protection kicks in, which means that users will never pay more than $60 per month for data. Now they can use 10GB of data and pay $60 per month plus $20 for unlimited talk and text. For using less data than 6GB, they will pay only for what they’ve used, as usual. However, data speeds will be reduced to 256 kbps for the rest of the month for single line users who go over 15 GB of usage during a month. But those who need more high speed data can purchase 1GB for $10 per month.
For multi-line plans, customers will maximally pay $100/10GB for 2 lines, $120/12GB for 3 lines, $140/14GB for 4 lines, $160/16GB for 5 lines and $180/18GB for 6 lines.
Project Fi operates simultaneously on Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular networks in addition to WIFi.
