RadioShack No Contract Wireless confirmed, launches September 5 with exclusive Huawei Mercury Ice
Today, after all the leaks, launch of RadioShack’s new prepaid service, powered by Cricket, is officially announced. RadioShack No Contract Wireless starts with offering its service tomorrow, September 5 at RadioShack stores nationwide. At the launch, two phones will be offered, Huawei Mercury Ice for $149.99 and Huawei Pillar for $39.99.
Huawei Mercury Ice is redesigned version of Cricket’s Huawei Mercury that comes in a pearl white color (exclusive to RadioShack for the next 30 days). The phone comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1.4GHz single-core processor, a 4-inch (854×480) display, 8-megapixel camera and an 8GB SanDisk memory card that’s RadioShack No Contract Wireless’s exclusive feature. An 8GB memory card will be included with all Muve Music smartphones released by this carrier.
Huawei Pillar is a feature phone with a QWERTY keyboard, a 2-inch (320×240) screen, VGA camera, expandable memory and music player. Another two phones, unknown for now, will be offered as well by the end of September.
RadioShack No Contract Wireless has introduced the monthly plans for its prepaid service as well that actually match the leaked ones. The service for feature phones starts at $25 for unlimited messaging, 1X data and 300 minutes, while for 1000 minutes, users need to pay $35 per month.
Smartphone monthly plans start at $50 for unlimited minutes, messages, Muve Music service and data with 1GB of full speed 3G data. For $60 per month, users get unlimited international texting, first 2.5GB at full data speeds and hotspot support.
