Republic Wireless Offers Six Months Free Service and Discounted Smartphones to Celebrate Independence
Bandwidth.com yesterday announced that it will separate Republic Wireless business from its own, since the company has grown enough to operate on its own. To celebrate its own becoming independent and getting $30 Million of growth capital, Republic Wireless offers six months free service with a purchase of discounted smartphones.
Republic Wireless Promotion
Starting December 7, 2016 through December 12, 2016, customers will be able to purchase the Moto Z Play for $349 which is a $100 off of the phone’s regular price, $449. In addition, the carrier said that it will soon add the Huawei Ascend 5W, a new GSM smartphone to its prepaid lineup. The new phone will also be part of the promotion. Ones it’s launched, the carrier will lower its cost for $50. From December 13, 2016, through December 19, 2016, the Huawei Ascend 5W will be offered for $129 instead of regular $179.
With the purchase of each of these two smartphones comes six months of free service. The free service includes unlimited talk and text, WiFi and 1GB of cellular data. Normally, this plan costs $20 per month, so customers will save $120 only on service.
Republic Wireless Growth
According to Bandwidth.com, Republic Wireless now has 300.000 subscribers and $100 million in annual revenue. These numbers have been reached rapidly which is related to Republic’s recent coverage expansion and addition of GSM service. Relying on WiFi first (thanks to its technology) and on cellular data only when WiFi is out of reach, results with Republic’s service being affordable. Also, customers can now activate new and popular GSM smartphones, bring their own and switch them easily, which wasn’t the case before. Previously only few CDMA smartphones were available that customers couldn’t even use with other providers so recent changes definitely added to the growth.
Now that Bandwidth is spinning Republic Wireless off into a separate business, the CEO of the company will be co-founder Chris Chuang that used to be COO. Co-founder and former CEO David Morken will be Chairman of Republic Wireless’ Board of Directors.
