Rok Mobile Adds New Verizon Plans and $60/10GB Plan on Both Networks, Verizon MVNOs Might No Longer Throttle LTE
Sprint and Verizon MVNO Rok Mobile has improved its prepaid plan offerings ones again. Only last week, the carrier has increased data on its existing $20, $30, $40 and $50 Sprint plans. However, since then, Rok Mobile seems to have made the same set of plans available for Verizon network, too. Also, the carrier added the new $60 plan with 10 GB of data for customers on both networks as well.
The change is not reflected on Rok Mobile’s website yet. Also, Verizon based plans will not be listed and available through Rok’s website but through Rok dealers only, for now.
Rok Mobile Verizon and Sprint Plans
After the latest change, Rok’s existing and new plans on Verizon and Sprint network include:
- $20 plan – unlimited talk and text, 1 GB of hard capped data
- $30 plan – unlimited talk, text and data with first 3 GB at 4G LTE speed
- $40 plan – unlimited talk, text and data with first 5 GB at 4G LTE speed
- $50 plan – unlimited talk, text and data with first 8 GB at 4G LTE speed
- $60 plan – unlimited talk, text and data with first 10 GB at 4G LTE speed – new
Previous $50 Verizon-based plan used to offer hard capped high speed data but according to the image above, plans on both networks will now include unlimited data with high speed data allotments. LTE on Verizon MVNOs is limited to 5Mbps but that could change soon since customers of some Verizon MVNOs report faster speeds.
Some of the Verizon MVNOs No Longer Throttle LTE
According to some users on Howard Forums, it seems as some of the Verizon MVNOs, TracFone-owned, as Page Plus Cellular, Total Wireless and Straight Talk have stopped throttling LTE speeds. So far, LTE has been limited to 5Mbps but some of the customers of these three prepaid providers have been reporting that their LTE is unthrottled now. It’s not, however, clear yet if all Verizon MVNOs will start with this new practice or it will be a privilege only for TracFone subsidiaries.
