Rok Mobile No Longer Offers Unlimited Data
Verizon MVNO Rok Mobile has stopped offering unlimited data. The carrier’s one and only $49.99 plan that used to offer unlimited talk, text and data with first 5GB at high speed now offers 5GB of hard capped high speed data. Rok Mobile no longer offers unlimited data since yesterday, August 1, 2016.
After the change, Rok Mobile’s $49.99 plan includes:
- $49.99 plan – unlimited talk and text, 5GB of high speed data and unlimited music streaming
This unfortunate change to its plan doesn’t come suddenly. The carrier has announced it on its website a month ago. Now that the change is live, Rok Mobile customers need to purchase additional data in order to continue to stream music. Before the change, customers were able to stream music even after high speed data allotment was reached because data speeds were throttled to around 256Kbps. Now, there is a $15 per 1GB data add-on that’s available to customers. Through Rok Mobile’s Music App, customers get access to more than 20 million tracks for streaming and downloading.
In addition, Rok Mobile’s $49.99 plan also comes with life and burial insurance. Rok Mobile subscribers are entitled to a $100,000 accidental death insurance policy. The plan also covers $20.000 for burial expenses. A 24/7 online access to doctors through MeMD is also available in addition to a roadside assistance for family members.
Rok Mobile used to be a multi-carrier MVNO that was operating on T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon networks. However, since December 18, 2015, the carrier has been keeping the coverage only of Verizon Wireless. High speed data on Rok Mobile is limited to 5 Mbps as it is with all Verizon mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).
