Straight Talk LG Optimus Black available for $329.99
Yesterday, on the carrier’s official website, Straight Talk LG Optimus Black became available. This latest Straight Talk Android phone is so far the most advanced handset so is the price, $329.99. This is the third Android phone for this carrier. It comes right after Samsung Galaxy Precedent and LG Optimus Q. However, the phone that’s even higher-end than Black, LG Optimus 2X, meant to become part of Straight Talk lineup, was never released. It’s still unclear if LG Optimus 2X is canceled or not. Or, if you like, there is no confirm from Straight Talk officials about this matter.

Nevertheless, LG Optimus Black comes at perfect timing for Straight Talk users. It has somewhat lower specs than LG Optimus 2X but fairly higher than LG Optimus Q. As it looks for now, LG Optimus 2X is not in the picture any more, so we won’t compare it with it any more. The good thing is that, Straight Talk users and all others who might be driven with this latest addition now have quite good handset available.
Straight Talk LG Optimus Black (LG L85C) is actually the same phone as LG Marquee, released recently for Boost Mobile. Boost’s version is available for $279.99 oppose to Straight Talk’s $329.99, coverage is the same, Sprint’s, so the only difference would be in the monthly plans available from each provider. Black works with $45 Unlimited plan with unlimited talk, text and data with hidden cap at around 2GB of data per month. On the other side, Boost offers $55 Android Monthly Unlimited plan but that can be lowered to as low as $40 per month after 18 on-time payments, if you sign up to Shrinkage plan.
Specs wise, Straight Talk LG Optimus Black runs on 1 GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It features 4-inches NOVA display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution and scratch resistant glass, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720P HD video recording. In addition, 2-megapixel front-facing camera is on-board for video chatting and self-portraits. The phone also supports Bluetooth, WiFi, advanced GPS and 3G connectivity as well as instant messaging, multitasking, access to popular Google services including Android Market.
For much needed memory, Straight Talk LG Optimus Black comes with 4GB memory card and microSD card slot for adding up to 32GB of additional storage. Its 1500 mAh battery is rated at up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 8 days of standby time.
Right now, LG Optimus Black is the top offer at Straight Talk’s lineup. If its specs and the price suit you, you can get it as of today for $329.99 at Straight Talk’s website with free overnight shipping, given that it’s available in your area.

Would love this phone but I already struggled with the service sprint provides when I had the galaxy android. If straight talk fires sprint or renegotiates for the for the use of more of their towers, I would gladly purchase this phone but til then, my nokia e5, seems to offer the most.
So many better gsm unlocked, att, and tmobile phones at that price range.
I totally agree with sprint’s service. It sucks. They should fire sprint for real. I have straight talk and since I have went with the android phone , I have a lot of droppped calls, no connection and callers not getting through to me. It’s a total nightmare!
the price is very expensive! and plus you have to get the plan started witch is another $45 adding onto the $329, thats about $400…..and its only prepaid…..might as well just sign a contract for better connection
it is way too much money for being prepaid! i wish i had one though….
Lisa, hear your comment, but your math is way off 329 plus 45 for 1st month is 374 for once (Straight Talk has free S/H at the moment). With prepaid, you pay ahead of the start date/month with your traditional plans, you pay for the last/past month/ billing cycle. Just like with your satellite TV and your home water bill. On prepaid, you usually have lower monthly payments vs. traditional 2 yr plans. If you wish to compare, do it for a 2 yr period and see what the numbers turn out to be.
I’d love to purchase an android phone but they still use the crappy sprint network which really sucks – dropped calls, limited cell coverage…what a pain! Come on straight talk, listen to your pre-existing customers and read the online reviews… expand your cell coverage to other networks that are more reliable!
Nice looking phone, I currently use verizon Iphone my unlimited plan is $140 month not including the cost of my Iphone $399 for the 32g
It would take an idiot to sign a contract nowadays. When every single network offers prepaid service for a fraction of the cost. I have a smartphone running on verizon towers through straight talk for 45 a month unlimited. The same phone on the actual verizon smartphone plan is 80 with only 1 gb of data. So, keep paying your $100 + monthly phone bills and enjoy your limited data. LOL. Thats like the dumbest comment I have ever heard! Dont try to justify your 2yr contract just to make yourself feel better about spending twice as much for the same services us “modern prepaid users” pay. LMAO
I’M INTERESTED IN GETTING THE LG OPTIMUS BLACK CAN YOU TELL ME WHEN IT’S GOING TO BE AVAILABLE IN MY AREA ZIP CODE IS 14801.WE CURRENTLY HAVE THE GALAXY IN OUR AREA NOW THAT MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED.
I agree .I sure wish they would wake up and fire Sprint!!! Their business would more than double. I would purchase this phone, but just can’t because of the Sprint towers.
You will pay $140 per mo. with Verizon and that is only with 10gb per month. So for me it is not an option. Once you buy the phone with ST, then all you pay is $45/mo and you get Unlimited data, text and talk.
