Straight Talk now offers 3GB of high speed data in unlimited plans, improves $30 All You Need Plan
TracFone’s subsidiary Straight Talk has increased the high speed data allotment that it offers in unlimited plans during a month. Straight Talk now offers 3GB of high speed data in $45 unlimited plan and $60 unlimited international plan instead of previously 2.5GB. The change hasn’t been announced by the carrier but Prepaid Phone News has found out from its readers about it. The Straight Talk’s website has been updated. On most pages, at the bottom, it says:
“*30 day Unlimited Plans include 3 GB of high speed data per 30 day cycle. After 3 GB, your data speed will be reduced for the remainder of the 30 day cycle. High speed data is restored once a new 30 day service plan is redeemed at the end of the 30 day plan cycle. Other limitations, terms and conditions of service apply. Straight Talk reserves the right to terminate your service for unauthorized or abnormal usage. Please refer always to the latest Terms and Conditions of Service at straighttalk.com.”
After the high speed data allotment, Straight Talk throttles data to 2G speeds. Even though data increase is a positive change and 3GB of high speed data is more than enough during a month for many customers, still, Straight Talk customers feel cheated when throttled much earlier than expected. Some of them are reporting being throttled when reaching as little as 500 MB of high speed data in a month and some hardly even reach 1 GB. Straight Talk seems to throttle customers when they are streaming, tethering or use over 100 MB of data in a day.
However, not all customers have experienced bad things with Straight Talk. Those who haven’t will have additional 5ooMB of fast speed data to use during a month, if they are cautious with how they are using their data. For all others who don’t want to think too much about how to spend what they have paid for, there are plenty of other prepaid options available on the market depending on what network they have used on Straight Talk. Straight Talk operates on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile networks.
Straight Talk has also increased data allotment on $30 All You Need Plan. For $30 per month, customers have 1500 voice minutes, unlimited text and 100MB of data instead of previously 30MB.
