T-Mobile Might Add Simple Choice Data Only Plans On March 30 – Updated
T-Mobile might add Simple Choice Data Only plans soon, according to leaked image obtained by TmoNews. Besides data allotments, these plans will include unlimited texting too. According to image, T-Mobile Simple Choice Data Only Plans will be available for GSM devices only. Data plans will not qualify for a $10 Automatic Mobile Internet Discount and Blackberry devices that can be used with T-Mobile Simple Choice Data Only Plans are Blackberry 10 or Priv. New data only plans should become available on March 30, 2016.
Obviously, T-Mobile is targeting large number of customers that prefer using VOIP apps like Google Voice or Skype over traditional cellular voice minutes. So, those particular users will be able to choose from the following Simple Choice Data Only Plans:
- 2GB for $20
- 6GB for $35
- 10GB for $50
- 14GB for $65
- 18GB for $80
- 22GB for $95
The new data only plans are not official yet, but we assume that Binge On and Music Freedom will be available for these plans, as well as Data roaming in US, Canada and Mexico.
The leaked image does not reveal if the new T-Mobile Simple Choice Data Only Plans will be available for prepaid customers but most likely, they will. Comparing to existing T-Mobile prepaid phone plans, new data plans can be compared to the $30 Basic Plan and the $60 Simply Prepaid plan. The $30 plan includes 100 min of talk, unlimited text and data with first 5GB at 4G speeds while the $60 Simply Prepaid monthly plan comes with unlimited talk, text and data with first 10GB at high speed. Data on both plans are throttled to 128Kbps when high speed limit is reached.
T-Mobile prepaid tablet plans include the same amount of data as the upcoming T-Mobile Simple Choice Data Only plans. In addition to matching data allotments, tablet plans include unlimited music streaming that doesn’t count towards plan’s high speed data and data roaming in Mexico and Canada, at no additional cost, no Binge On. Mobile prepaid tablet plans are also offering daily data pass with 500MB 4G LTE data for $5, weekly pass with 1GB 4G LTE data for $10 and monthly pass with 3GB 4G LTE data for $30.
Update March 30, 2016: Simple Choice Data Only plans, according to T-Mobile spokesman, have been around for years now but they haven’t been advertised because they were meant for people who have hearing problems. So, instead of new plans, the leak has showed the change in data offerings. Despite this, the plans are available to anyone and can be reached in T-Mobile stores only. Up to now, it hasn’t been revealed if they are available to prepaid. In any way, data increase on the Simple Choice Data Only plans is effective now.
