The carrier has introduced four service plans that work on all networks in addition to plans that are available for each network separately, GSMA, CDMAV, GSMT and CDMAS. As the last letter in the names of services suggests, GSMA service is on AT&T network, CDMAV on Verizon, GSMT on T-Mobile and CDMAS is on Sprint’s network. GSMT and CDMAS service offer LTE. FreedomPop will start offering Sprint Spark Android smartphones in Q3, 2014According to recent interview with FreedomPop CEO Stephen Stokols, Sprint MVNO FreedomPop will start offering Sprint Spark-enabled Android smartphones by the end of June, 2014. FreedomPop needs to replace all of its devices that run on Sprint WiMAX network, which will be shut down by the end of 2015. At the moment FreedomPop is selling only iPhone 5 that uses Sprint’s 3G and LTE networks but supports many LTE handsets now through its BYOD program. Read more

MetroPCS shutting down CDMA network in Las Vegas and New England on July 1 T-Mobile US’s prepaid brand MetroPCS has started notifying its customers in Las Vegas and New England that they will be shutting down CDMA network in these two cities on July 1, 2014. As a result, customers with CDMA devices will stop having service from that day on. To prevent that from happening, MetroPCS is advising them to switch to GSM phone by June 30, 2014. Read more

T-Mobile starts selling HSPA+, LTE phones to MetroPCS customersCouple of days ago, MetroPCS has launched its GSM-based BYOP program to help its CDMA customers migrate to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ and LTE networks. However, the T-Mobile US went even further today. The company has started selling today first two HSPA+ enabled handsets with MetroPCS branding, the LG Optimus L9 and the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit, announcing that they are ahead of schedule with what they have done since the merger, May 1, 2013.
