Ting CDMA International Roaming No Longer AvailableSprint and T-Mobile MVNO Ting has announced that their customers on Sprint’s CDMA network will no longer have international roaming. The reason for this is that Sprint, which provides Ting’s CDMA service, has recently turned off CDMA international roaming. Their customers that use GSM-based service on T- Mobile network will not be affected with this change and therefore, when customers are somewhere out of the country, they will be able to use their phone but will be charged Ting’s regular GSM roaming rates. Cricket CDMA network shutdown scheduled for September 15 has arrivedToday is the last day of Cricket Wireless offering CDMA service to customers. Cricket has set the September 15 as a day of Cricket CDMA network shutdown back in January, giving enough time to everyone on CDMA to switch to GSM network. Earlier this summer, Cricket said that 97% of CDMA customers have been moved to AT&T’s GSM network. Cricket said to Fierce Wireless that at this point, they have ‘few’ CDMA customers that are still on legacy network which are in California and few other locations. Read more

Expo Mobile added new CDMA and GSM plansIn an attempt to attract more users to its service, Expo Mobile made some big changes in its offerings. According to their website, on July 3, 2015, Expo Mobile, that used to be a Sprint MVNO only, has started offering prepaid service on all four major networks. Expo Mobile added new CDMA and GSM plans. Also, they have changed their BYOD program, allowing now activation of used or inactive CDMA/GSM devices with one of their plans, including AT&T locked and unlocked devices, Boost Mobile, Sprint, T-Mobile locked and unlocked devices, Verizon and Virgin Mobile devices. MetroPCS CDMA service to shutdown as planned, on June 21T-Mobile US prepaid brand MetroPCS will shut down its CDMA service as previously announced, on June 21, 2015. According to T-Mobile, approximately 190,000 customers are still using MetroPCS CDMA service in three markets, Dallas, Miami and New York City, which T-Mobile will shut down on Sunday. Starting Sunday, June 21, customers on CDMA network will lose their service and only connectivity that they will have is 911 emergency services and 611 MetroPCS customer care line. About a month ago, there were around 300,000 legacy MetroPCS customers. Read more

MetroPCS CDMA customers must switch to GSM until June 21 T-Mobile has announced that it will shut down MetroPCS CDMA network by June 21, 2015. The carrier on its website said that after that date, phones that operate on the legacy MetroPCS network “are not guaranteed to have service.” Therefore, MetroPCS is offering a way for their CDMA customers to upgrade to GSM handsets for free. For the past month, there have been some reports that users were able to activate Verizon-compatible smartphones on TracFone BYOD but it wasn’t working for everyone. Red Pocket Mobile now offering service on all four wireless networksRed Pocket Mobile is now offering prepaid service on all four wireless networks, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. The carrier has introduced four service plans that work on all networks in addition to plans that are available for each network separately, GSMA, CDMAV, GSMT and CDMAS. As the last letter in the names of services suggests, GSMA service is on AT&T network, CDMAV on Verizon, GSMT on T-Mobile and CDMAS is on Sprint’s network. GSMT and CDMAS service offer LTE.
