Republic’s $19 unlimited voice, SMS and data service is launching today

November 8th is here and today is the day when Republic Wireless starts testing its hopefully revolutionary idea of making Wi-Fi primary form of voice data communication. WiFi is already everywhere so why not use this to talk, text and use data at the low $19 monthly rate. The idea is that users automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network whenever possible and to switch to cellular-based calling on Sprint’s 3G data network when its not. Sounds simple and it is but Republic’s $19 unlimited plan requires a specialized handset. Read more
