Target MVNO Brightspot official, launching October 6
New prepaid MVNO Brightspot from Target and T-Mobile, that leaked couple of days ago, is officially announced. The Brightspot will launch on October 6 and will operate on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ and LTE networks.
The Brightspot will offer the $35 monthly plan that includes unlimited talk and text only and the $50 plan with unlimited talk, text and 1GB of high-speed data. According to their website, customers will be able to sign up to the service at Target stores and ones they choose the plan, they will be able to choose from a number of handsets that include feature phones and smartphones. The carrier hasn’t named any of those phones but did say that customers can bring their own unlocked GSM phone, purchase a SIM kit and activate it with their prepaid plans.
Brightspot will also reward its customers every six months with a $25 gift card and for Target REDcard holders, the company provides a five percent discount on their monthly bill.
Brighspot did not announce the $65 monthly plan that was mentioned in the leak nor international add-ons probably because those will be offered online. For now, customers can access Brighspot prepaid service only in Target stores. The $65 monthly plan will include 4GB of 4G/LTE data after which data will be throttled to 2G speeds while International texting will be available for $5 and international calling and texting for $10 per month, according to Droid-Life.
