Telcel America limits calls to Mexican mobile phones to 400 minutes
Few days ago, Telcel America has changed its $60 Unlimited International Plan by limiting calls to Mexican mobile phones to 400 minutes. In addition, users can make calls only to 15 unique international numbers per month. Up until now, Telcel America’s $60 plan has included unlimited nationwide talk, messaging, data and unlimited calls to mobiles in Mexico and to landlines in 37 countries.
In the Telcel America’s Frequently Asked Questions, in Services > Unlimited Plan section, to the question “What is a Telcel America Unlimited Plan?” the carrier answers:
“We have the Unlimited International Plan, which provides you with unlimited minutes, unlimited text/multimedia, unlimited Mobile Web Access, and international calls to Mexico and specific destinations. Under this plan, international texting is available to select destinations.
The Telcel America Unlimited* International Plan is a flexible plan that allows you to make international calls at a low price from your Telcel America phone. You don?t need a contract. This plan includes minutes, text messaging/multimedia, Internet access from your phone within the U.S. and unlimited* international calls and text messages to more than 1,000 international destinations including landlines in Mexico, plus 400 minutes to call mobile phones in Mexico. As the Prepaid Phone News notes, Telcel America’s sister companies, Straight Talk and NET10, also include international calling to Mexico within their $60 and $65 unlimited plans, respectively. However, chances are the limit will spread on them too.
A limited time offer from Boost Mobile also includes international calls to mobiles in Mexico. It can be added to one of the Boost’s monthly plans for $15 per month and has to be activated by June 6, 2013. However, the service can be kept as long as the account is maintained.
AT&T has also added a Mexico Plus Plan to its prepaid GoPhone offer few days ago. For $10 per month, users get 1,000 minutes for calling landline and mobile phone numbers in Mexico and 50 other countries as Canada, China and India. The plan can be added to GoPhone’s $50 or $65 unlimited monthly plans.
