Ting offering $5 Starbucks gift card to AT&T customers who check their phone’s IMEI number with Ting
Sprint and T-Mobile MVNO Ting is running a promotion in which it encourages AT&T customers to check if their phone is compatible with Ting by offering a $5 Starbucks gift card. The promotion lasts from midnight ET on October 20 to 11:59pm ET on October 22, 2015.
The goal of this promotion is to at least make AT&T customers think about Ting. Ting has been offering its CDMA Sprint-based prepaid service since it launched and GSM for only nine months now. As Ting notes in its official blog, most GSM phones released in the last couple of years are compatible with Ting’s service and most of those phones are AT&T’s.
In order to go through process of checking the phone’s compatibility with Ting, AT&T customers need to get their phone’s IMEI number (unique serial number) that can be found when users dial *#06#, or on Androids in Settings – About Phone – Status and iOS in Settings – General – About. Also, they will need to enter their phone number to confirm that they are AT&T customers and the email address that Starbucks voucher will be sent to.
After doing this, AT&T customers will find out if their phone would work with Ting service if they ever decide to switch and of course, they will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card on email before Monday, October 26 ends.
Ting also notes that they will not use any information provided by AT&T customers to annoy them by any means or to obligate them to anything, so “there’s zero obligation.”
