TracFone Changes Smartphone and BYOP Plans, Data Only and One Year Airtime Options
TracFone, which operates on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network, has made significant changes to its prepaid airtime options. TracFone changes smartphone and BYOP only plans entirely while data only airtime cards, $50/4GB, $30/2GB, $15/750MB and $10/300MB, are replaced with only one option, $10 for 1GB of data (1¢/MB). The carrier has also discontinued the double minutes for life as well as a couple of most expensive one year cards.

- $15 plan – 200 minutes, 500 texts and 200MB of data for 30 days (was $35/500 minutes, 1000 texts, 400MB of data for 90 days)
- $25 plan – 500 minutes, 1000 texts and 500MB of data for 60 days (was $50/1000 minutes, 2000 texts, 500MB of data or 90 days)
- $35 plan – 750 minutes, 1000 texts and 1GB of data for 60 days (was $75/2000 minutes, 3000 texts, 1GB of data for 90 days)
- $125 plan – 1500 minutes, 1500 texts and 1.5GB of data for 365 days (was $90/3000 minutes, 3000 texts, 1.5GB of data for 90 days)
TracFone Pay As You Go Minute Cards
Besides the new smartphone and BYOP only plans, customers can purchase Pay As You Go Minute Cards to refill airtime on their smartphones. Minute cards triple not just minutes but texts and data too if used with smartphones. For example $29.99/120 minutes card will give users 360 minutes, 360 texts and 360 MB of data per 90 days. For feature phones, these are just regular minutes which double or triple, depending on phone.
Available Pay As You Go Minute Cards are: $9.99/30 minutes for 30 days; $19.99/60 minutes for 90 days; $29.99/120 minutes for 90 days; $39.99/200 minutes for 90 days; $79.99/450 minutes for 90 days and $99.99/400 minutes for 365 days.
The carrier has discontinued the $159.99/1000 minutes one year card and $199.99/1500 minutes one year card. Also discontinued are double minute for life options.
