Verizon $35 Prepaid Basic Phone plan leaks, two new basic handsets as well
Verizon Wireless might add a new $35 Prepaid Basic Phone plan to its prepaid offer, according to a leaked image posted by Phone Arena. Reportedly, its introduction is expected to happen today, April 11, 2013.
The new Verizon Prepaid Basic Phone plan includes unlimited texting, unlimited mobile web browsing and 500 anytime minutes. When users go over the minutes allotment, they won’t be able to buy additional 500 minutes for $35 but instead, pay-as-you-go rates will apply ($0.25 a minute). On the leaked image, Verizon advises users who need more minutes than the new $35 Prepaid Basic Phone plan provides to switch to their $50 feature phone plan. The $50 plan comes with unlimited talk, text, and mobile web browsing.
Both new and existing Verizon customers with feature phones qualify for the new $35 prepaid plan. However, new customers will receive a $10 airtime credit ones they activate a new phone.
Phone Arena has been also tipped about Verizon releasing two basic handsets soon but whether or not they will be available on prepaid, it’s unclear. Given that a new Basic Phone plan has leaked right after these two basic handsets, it’s most likely that they would match this prepaid plan. Two basic handsets are LG’s, the Cosmos 3 and Revere 2. The Cosmos 3 possibly features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard while Revere 2 is probably a basic flip phone, Phone Arena notes.
Verizon has also launched two new prepaid monthly plans for smartphones in February 2013. The $60 plan comes with unlimited talk, unlimited text messaging and 500 MB of Verizon’s 3G data while the $70 plan has 2 GB of 3G data. Additional GB of data is available for $20 per month or users can choose to pay 5¢ per MB.
