Verizon MVNO TalkForGood no longer functioning – UPDATED
September 17, 2013: Today, TalkForGood has made its shutdown official. They’ve started sending emails to its customers letting them know that they have 30 days to port their phone number to another carrier (on Page Plus the phone and number can be kept) to avoid losing it. The HowardForums user has shared the email that he received from TalkForGood today:
“It is time to find a new carrier. TalkForGood is shutting down. PagePlus is a Verizon reseller. You can use your same phone when Porting to them
You will have 30 days to port your phone number to another carrier. Your number will be gone after 30 days.

For over two months now, TalkForGood, a Verizon MVNO launched in November 2012, is not functioning properly. It all started with customers being unable to sigh up for a service since the only place where they could do it online, Plans page, was down for maintenance. The plans were replaced with message “We are currently performing maintenance on the page you requested. Please check back later.” – and the same message is still on. However, at least, users could activate new phones by calling TalkForGood until they were no longer answering the phone.
Even than, there was some hope since customers could log into their accounts, at least, but for some time now, they cannot access their accounts any more to add money or monitor the usage. As Prepaid Phone News recommends, possibly its time to port the phone number out of TalkForGood for those who would like to keep it. And not just for that reason. As Prepaid Phone News notes, leaving the number with TalkForGood would indicate that the phone is active on a Verizon MVNO, making it impossible to use it with any other Verizon MVNO or Verizon itself.
TalkForGood customers are reporting on Howard Forums successful porting through Page Plus’s online dealer Kitty Wireless. In addition, customers can port their TalkForGood number for free through dealers of a new Verizon MVNO Selectel, Genius Wireless and Bat Mobile Wireless. However, customers have concerns for these two MVNOs as well. First, Page Plus, ones highly reliable, is now acquired by America Movil’s U.S. MVNO TracFone while Selectel, launched few months ago, May 2013, is quite new and not so reliable given what happened to TalkForGood that lasted for eight months only.
