Verizon prepaid smartphone plans $5 off with Auto Pay option
Verizon Wireless has improved its prepaid smartphone plans last week adding significant amount of data for the same price. Verizon prepaid $60 smartphone plan now includes 2GB of 3G data instead of just 500MB while $70 plan has 4GB of 3G data instead of 2GB in addition to unlimited talk and text messaging. Increased data allotment is available immediately for existing customers while new ones can access it beginning June 6, 2013.
Even better deal Verizon prepaid smartphone plans users can achieve if they sign up for auto pay option, according to a Prepaid Phone News reader that spotted this offer at Walmart. Those who opt for auto refill, paying for the prepaid monthly service with a credit or debit card, will receive a $5 discount every month.
However, even with a $5 discount, AT&T’s newly launched prepaid brand Aio Wireless offers better deal to smartphone users. The $55 smartphone plan has a 2 GB of high-speed data and $70 smartphone plan has a 7 GB of high-speed data per month. Comparing prepaid plans from these two major carriers, AT&T offers high speed data and significantly larger data allotment on the pricier plan while Verizon definitely has a larger and more reliable coverage. In addition, Aio Wireless is available in only three markets for now, Houston, Orlando and Tampa, but will be expanded nationally “over the next year.”
The reason for both companies considerably improving their prepaid offerings lately is that new customers were opting for prepaid over postpaid by 10 to 1 in Q1 of 2013, one third of the entire smartphone sale was prepaid, and the fastest growing carrier in the same quarter was TracFone.
