Verizon Prepaid To Add Unlimited Throttled Data To $45 And $60 Plans On July 17
Verizon Wireless will improve its prepaid plans ones again, only two months after making the last positive change. On July 17, 2016, we can expect Verizon Prepaid to add unlimited throttled data to the $45 and $60 plans. Right now, these plans are hard capped. The feature that will bring unlimited data at reduced speeds after high speed data allotment on these two plans is called Always-on Data.
Unlimited data, which carrier will add to the $45/2GB (3GB with auto pay) and $60/5GB (6GB with auto pay) plans when 4G LTE limit is reached will be throttled to 128Kbps for the rest of the monthly cycle. Customers will receive the new feature automatically; new customers will get it right away after the launch while existing customers will get it soon after.
Verizon will also inform customers via text message when they are about to use up all their 4G LTE data and to start receiving data at reduced speeds.
Even though prepaid customers on Verizon will never stay without data with the new Always-on Data feature, they will still be able to add more high speed data to each plan or to upgrade their plan. Additional data available are $5/500MB per month, $10/1GB per 90 days and $20/3GB of data per 90 days. In addition to 2GB (3GB with auto pay) and 5GB (6GB with auto pay) of 4G LTE data on these two plans, the $45 and the $60 plans also include unlimited talk and messaging and unlimited text to Mexico and Canada. The $60 plan also includes unlimited calling to these two countries.
Couple of months ago, Verizon Prepaid has become more competitive by making their promotional 1GB bonus data with auto pay a permanent offer. The carrier has also added calling to Mexico and Canada to $60 plan at not additional cost while 1000 minutes for calling these two countries are available to the $30 and $45 smartphone plans and $30 basic phone plan for $10 per month.
Now that Verizon Prepaid plans include unlimited data, they have come closer to GoPhone’s prepaid offering. However, GoPhone’s $45 and $60 plans offer unlimited data with 3GB and 6GB of 4G LTE data, respectively, without auto pay; if customers enroll in auto pay, their plans become $5 cheaper each month.
